April 25 – For the first time English Premier League clubs are set to discuss a hard salary cap at their next shareholders meeting on Monday but the proposal is likely to face strong opposition.
The proposed cap – known as anchoring – would limit clubs to spending only a proportion of the amount the league’s bottom club receives in TV money on transfers, wages and agents.

November 26 – Gordon Taylor, chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association, which represents players in England and Wales, is to stand down at the end of this season.
Taylor, 75, is stepping down after nearly 40 years in charge, having headed the body since 1981 and announced his decision in a letter to PFA members
In recent months, Taylor has faced criticism over his salary, reported to be in the region of £2 million a year.

April 6 – English Premier League stars, via their union, have failed to reach agreement with their employers to take 30% pay cuts during the coronavirus pandemic, despite being urged to do so by government officials in order to offset the financial impact of the crisis.

March 6 – Liverpool’s staff costs surged through the £300-million mark last season, as the Merseysiders put the finishing touches to the squad that is running away with this year’s Premier League title.
These costs jumped 17.6% from £263.6 million to £309.9 million, putting them in the same ballpark as the Manchester giants. City reported aggregate payroll costs of £315.3 million, while United’s employee benefit expenses for 2018-19 reached £332.3 million.…
